Dr. Weitzenfeld has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Israel Institute of Technology, Technion. He has a Master of Science in Computer Engineering and a Doctoral degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, USC. Was a Research Assistant Professor at USC and currently a Professor in the Computer Engineering Department at the ITAM - Mexican Autonomous Institute of Technology. He directs de Biorobotics (CANNES) and Robotics laboratories where he leads ITAM “Eagle Knights” RoboCup robot soccer teams in the Small-size and Standard Platform leagues. He has participated in various research projects funded by CONACYT and by collaboration programs such as NSF-CONACYT, UC MEXUS CONACYT and LAFMI in France. He is a member of the Mexican National Research System, SNI, an organizing member of the IEEE-RAS Latin American Robotics Council, founder and chair of the IEEE-RAS Mexican Chapter, and chair of the RoboCup Mexican National Committee. He is the main author of the book entitled The Neural Simulation Language NSL: A System for Brain Modeling (coauthors M. Arbib and A. Alexander) published in 2002 by MIT Press. He is also the author of the book entitled Object Oriented Software Engineering with UML, Java and Internet published in 2004 by Thomson Learning. He has developed the Neural Simulation Language (NSL), the Abstract Schema Language (ASL) and the Mobile Internet Robotics architecture (MIRO). He has organized multiple national and international conferences together with robotics tournaments, including the Latin American Robotics Symposium sponsored by IEEE and RAS. His main interests are robotics, neural networks and artificial intelligence.
